The Engineer of the Year (People) awards recognise outstanding engineers who show innovation and resourcefulness in their work. The awards recognise inspiring engineering professionals who demonstrate contribution to the well-being of people, communities, and sustainable engineering practices, promotion of the engineering profession, and the formulation of resourceful, innovative, and aesthetically appealing engineering solutions.
The award categories correspond with the membership categories of Engineers Australia.
The Engineer of the Year Awards is a nominator-driven program. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

Once the Nominator has submitted the initial nomination for the Engineer of the Year awards the Nominee will be invited to complete the submission process as per the Engineers of the Year Submission Guidelines.
A nominee must be a current member in the relevant category of membership at the time of nomination and must remain a financial member up to and including the day that the Awards are announced. Find out more information about the Engineers Australia membership categories.
Both financial members and non-members* can nominate an Engineers Australia member for an award.
*Note a non-member of Engineers Australia (e.g. manager, HR representative) can prepare a nomination on behalf of a nominee and nominate, however, such nomination must be supported by a referee who is a current member of Engineers Australia. Referee’s contact details and membership number must be provided in the nomination form.

Engineering Technologist, Engineering Associate
Young Professional Engineer, Young Engineering Technologist and Young Engineering Associate of the Year must be practicing engineers and not over the age of 35 (up to and including the day that the Awards are announced.
