Ali is a Sydney-based Principal of Northrop and Chartered Engineer who heads up the Structural Engineering Section. His career portfolio includes multiple landmark award-winning mass timber buildings that are the first of their kind in Australia.
He is a recognised expert in multi-storey engineered timber buildings, with multiple academic papers and industry presentations to his credit.
Ali is the current president of the ACSE and has been appointed an Adjunct Associate Professor at Griffith University.
Ali’s approach is to design beyond structural engineering by analysing the overall purpose of a space, considering its users, its lifecycle and its environmental footprint.
