Eddie O’Brien born in Innisfail in October 1964 and is has 3 grown children. He lives in Cairns, North Queensland and works as a FIFO for South32 at the GEMCO mine site on Groote Eylandt and has worked there for just over 2 years.

Eddie has been awarded;

• Master of Maintenance and Reliability Engineering 2016 (Monash University)
• Graduate Diploma in Maintenance Management 2002 (University of Central Queensland).
• Associate Diploma of Mechanical Engineering 1992 (University of Southern Queensland). (3 academic prizes and Dean’s Commendation)

Eddie states his skills include;

• Mechanical Trade Skills, Mechanical Engineering, Design Drafting,
• Project Management, Maintenance Management, Reliability Engineering,
• Leadership, Management, Mentoring

He has published one paper on the “Transformation from PPM to an RCM Approach – October 2016”.

Eddie has worked in many different roles and many industry sectors including heavy Industry since 1982. These include the resources, metals, manufacturing, health and defence sectors. It also includes a significant period self-employed operating a design consulting business and employing other professional staff.

Eddie has worked in a range of technical and leadership roles in Australia and New Zealand and taken on Safety and Environmental leadership roles.

He has received the following honours and awards;

• Johnstone Shire Junior Citizen of the Year 1988
• 3 Academic prizes and the Deans Commendation during completion of an Associate Diploma.
• CEngA – Chartered engineering Associate – Engineers Australia
• AFIEAust – Associate Fellow – Engineers Australia
• CAMA – Certified Asset Management Assessor – WPiAM
• CPAM – Certified – AM Council
