Wade Godbee discharged from the Permanent Air Force in January 2006 after 27 years’ fulltime service and straight away joined the RAAF Active Reserve where is he still serving today. In his Reserve capacity, he is the Warrant Officer Engineer in charge of all the technical Reservists within Number 82Wing (which includes Numbers 1 and 6 Squadrons), who undertake maintenance initially on F-111 aircraft and now F/A-18F and EA-18G aircraft.

Aside from Reserve work, Wade also joined Raytheon Australia at Amberley in October 2006 as a Maintenance Manager. Sixteen months later, he was promoted to a Senior Maintenance Manager where he was responsible for a number of Defence Aviation Sustainment programs within Raytheon across Amberley, Nowra, Adelaide and Williamtown locations.

He also set up and executed the Raytheon Australia maintenance management system and maintenance regulatory requirements on a number of new Raytheon Programs, including Land 58, Australian Super Hornet Training Support Services (F/A-18F Flight Simulators), and the Air Combat Electronic Attack Sustainment Contract For F/A-18F and EA-18G aircraft, where he is still working.

Wade received a Raytheon Australia General Managers award for the phase in work he did on the Super Hornet Training Support Services contract. Wade also received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Military Division of the 2015 Queens Birthday Honours, for meritorious service as a Maintenance Manager in the Permanent and Reserve elements of the RAAF.

In 2019, Wade received the Federation Star to his Defence Long Service Medal for 40 years of Defence Service.
