Dr Richard Kelly is a Chartered Professional Engineer with experience as a geotechnical engineer, academic and structural engineer, delivering large and complex civil infrastructure projects across Australia. These include Snowy Hydro 2.0, Inland Rail, and multiple projects under the Pacific Highway Upgrade program.
Richard established the National Soft Soil Field Testing Facility in Ballina, which aims to improve the construction of infrastructure on soft soils. He holds honorary professorial positions at the University of Wollongong and University of Newcastle.
Richard actively contributes to the engineering and wider community. Richard champions development of female technical staff through SMEC’s internal sponsorship programs.
